KDS Cooperates with FAMS 2026 to Build a ‘Global Mobility Silk Road’

Date 2026.04.07

The Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS, Chairman Seung-hun Chun), a consulting firm specializing in international development, has rolled up its sleeves to expand the global territory of South Korea’s AI mobility services.

At the official inauguration ceremony of the ‘Future AI Mobility Summit 2026 (FAMS 2026)’ held on April 2, 2026, at the Transportation Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, KDS signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Future Eco-friendly Vehicle Service Association (KFMSA, Chairman Seok-gu Lee) and declared comprehensive cooperation for the global standardization and public policy establishment of AI mobility services.

‘K-Mobility Services’ Beyond Simple Exports to Global Policy Standards

The core of this agreement lies in combining AI-based mobility service systems (battery care, maintenance, remanufacturing, etc.), in which South Korea has strengths, with international development cooperation models. Utilizing its experience in economic development consulting conducted in over 140 countries and its networks with international organizations, KDS has decided to support the establishment of ‘Digital Mobility Governance’ so that Korean-style mobility services can be adopted as official government policies in various countries.

Seung-hun Chun, Chairman of KDS, stated, “While the mobility industry has so far focused on one-dimensional exports of vehicle manufacturing and sales, in the future, ‘service standards’ responsible for the infrastructure and safety of the respective countries will dominate the market.” He added, “By deploying KDS’s policy design capabilities, we will strive to ensure that the AI mobility ecosystem pursued by FAMS 2026 becomes a standard for global public administration.”

Serving as the ‘Brain’ for a ‘Mobility Silk Road’ Connecting India, the Middle East, and Asia

Starting from this MOU, KDS has decided to lead the establishment of an international cooperation roadmap within the FAMS 2026 Organizing Committee. In particular, it has decided to promote several key tasks in line with the main summit event to be held on June 30. These include: ▷ Establishing global standards (standardizing AI-based EV battery safety diagnostics and maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) into international standard models); ▷ Developing tailored models for developing countries (designing mobility service packages optimized for the infrastructure levels of emerging economies such as India and ASEAN); and ▷ Acting as a window for cooperation with international organizations (securing the credibility of K-mobility services by cooperating with international organizations such as the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the OECD).

At the inauguration ceremony, attended by major domestic and international figures such as Young Tae Kim, Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum (ITF), and Jun-hyeong Park, Director General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, KDS received attention as a key partner in the field of policy and development collaboration among seven strategic institutions.

Seok-gu Lee, Chairman of KFMSA and Chairman of the FAMS 2026 Organizing Committee, expressed his expectations, saying, “The participation of KDS will serve as an opportunity for FAMS 2026 to leap beyond a simple summit and become a ‘global think tank’ that changes the mobility policies of countries around the world.”

Meanwhile, starting with this inauguration ceremony, KDS plans to present a concrete vision for the ‘National Adoption Strategy of Future Mobility Services’ to global delegations and government officials from major countries at the VIP Gala Show on June 29 and the main event held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 30.
